today I am announcing that the New Democrats will bring proposals and legislation to limit the power of prorogation so that the Prime Minister cannot abuse it.I agree with this. It was proposed last week by Prof. Andrew Heard in BC and makes a lot of sense.
The government should only prorogue Parliament on a vote in the House of Commons.
Hopefully we'll be hearing more concrete suggestions in the future about "new politics". I don't see anything in there in reference to the challenge from Fair Vote Canada to move "post-haste" to work with the other parties to amend the Canada Elections Act and implement a new electoral system based on "equal and effective" votes and proportional representation.

Politicians don't see electoral reform as a sexy issue. Even New Democrats are likely to agree with Harper on this that "Canadians don't care."
