Sinclair Stevens on proroguing

Interesting perspective on the precedent set by the prorogue of Parliament from former conservative cabinet minister Sincair Stevens in an article in the King City Sentinel by Bill Rea.

Former MP concerned about example proroguing of Parliament sets
He (Sinclair Stevens) said he realized Jean was in a spot, but he wondered what will happen the next time a prime minister is facing a nonconfidence motions that's likely to be successful, with precedent like that.

"That's defeating the whole concept of our House of commons approach," he warned.

"You've defeated the most fundamental thing of parliamentary government," he added.
I once had the opportunity share a lunch table with Stevens at a computer show. We had an interesting discussion about the Harris years in Ontario and technology.
